Inbound link suggestion helps you find places inside older content that can link to another page. This is probably the more important form of link suggestion because going back through hundreds of old posts manually is where internal linking becomes difficult.

Outbound link suggestion works from the page you are editing. The tool finds phrases inside the content and recommends related pages that can be linked from them.

Then we have internal link reports and analysis. Reports tell you how many inbound, outbound, and external links each page has. The analysis part goes further by showing the actual URLs and anchor texts involved.

Link Whisper is a dedicated internal linking tool. So naturally, there are areas where it goes beyond what Rank Math currently provides through AI Link Genius.

This is the biggest advantage.

When you publish a new article, adding outbound links from that article is relatively easy. You are already editing the content, so you can add a few relevant links as you write.

The harder part is finding older articles that should link to the new one.

Link Whisper handles this with inbound link suggestions. It searches older content for relevant opportunities and lets you create those incoming links without visiting every page individually.

This is also useful when fixing orphan content.

The plugin can track clicks on the links inside your content.

Every page can have its own click report. You can see the total clicks and inspect the URLs and anchors involved. Link Whisper can also show site-wide click data for individual links.

And the feature is not limited to internal links. External link clicks can also be tracked.

Link Whisper has more specialized internal linking features.

But there are also areas where AI Link Genius clearly does a better job.

The first is link reporting.

Both plugins report incoming internal links, outgoing internal links, and external links. But from our use of AI Link Genius, Rank Math has been stronger in the accuracy of this information.

Its link audit also scans links and identifies working links alongside problems such as broken or redirected URLs. Links blocked by robots.txt can also be reported.

The Posts and Links areas then give you the individual link information behind those numbers.

Link Whisper’s URL Changer is useful when the destination URL changes.

But sometimes the URL is fine and the anchor text is the problem.
