How to Receive PayPal Payments in Unsupported Countries Without Your Own PayPal Account

For many people, the most important reason for having a PayPal account is the ability to receive money. If that ability is cut off, then one of the main reasons for using PayPal is already gone.

You cannot expect a freelancer or online worker to keep using PayPal mainly to send money. In most cases, they need to receive more money than they send. Yet many freelancers, business owners, and other people receiving money from abroad cannot receive PayPal payments because their country is not fully supported or they do not have access to a working PayPal account.

This article looks at practical ways around that problem. And yes, it is possible to receive money from someone who wants to pay you through PayPal even when you do not have your own PayPal account. We will look at how that works below.

Is It Possible to Receive PayPal Payments Without an Account?

As mentioned earlier, it is possible, but we need to separate two things.

Can you receive money directly into PayPal without having a PayPal account?

Normally, no.

PayPal itself does not provide a normal way for someone without a PayPal account to receive and hold PayPal funds directly.

But that does not mean someone who wants to pay you through PayPal has no way to get the money to you.

For example, the sender may be able to send the money directly to your local bank account through a PayPal-related service such as Xoom. You may also be able to receive the payment into a USD or EUR bank account, whether it is a traditional foreign account or an eligible virtual account.

Another option is to receive the PayPal payment through a trusted payment service or middleman. Services like this exist specifically to help people who cannot receive PayPal payments directly in their country.

You could also consider opening a foreign PayPal account legally if you genuinely qualify for one. Of course, this takes us slightly away from the main topic since you would still end up having a PayPal account.

The last option is to use an alternative to PayPal. This only works when the person paying you is willing and able to use another payment method.

Now let’s look at each of these ways to receive PayPal funds in unsupported countries.

Ways to Receive PayPal Funds in Unsupported Countries

1. Ask the Sender to Send the Money Directly to Your Local Bank Account Through Xoom

This is probably the most convenient option when it is available, yet many people do not know about it.

Xoom is a PayPal service that allows people in supported sending countries to transfer money directly to recipients in other countries. So, instead of sending the money to your PayPal account, the sender may be able to use their PayPal balance or another supported payment method on Xoom and send the money directly to you.

The first thing to do is ask the person trying to pay you to check whether Xoom is available in their country and whether your country is supported as a destination.

For example, Xoom currently allows transfers to Pakistan from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and supported countries in the European Economic Area. Recipients in Pakistan can receive the money through supported bank deposit and other available payout methods.

The same option is available for several other countries where normal PayPal service is limited. Bangladesh, for example, supports Xoom bank deposits, mobile wallets, and cash pickup. Ghana currently supports mobile wallet transfers and cash pickup. Available receiving methods differ by country, so always check what Xoom currently offers for your destination.

If Xoom does not provide a useful payout option to your local bank, another thing you can check is whether you have access to USD or EUR receiving account details.

Platforms such as WorldFirst and nSave provide eligible users with foreign currency receiving details. WorldFirst offers receiving accounts in currencies including USD and EUR, while nSave provides USD ACH details and EUR account options for supported users.

Once you obtain a USD, EUR, or GBP account from one of these platforms, you can copy the account details and send them to the person trying to pay you. They can then use those details to send the money through Xoom. Once the money arrives in your account on the platform, you can convert it to your local currency and withdraw it to your local bank account.

This option is convenient because you do not need to open your own PayPal account just to receive the money. The sender handles the transfer, while you receive it through a supported bank account, wallet, or other payout method.

There is one major limitation you should know about.

Xoom is intended for personal remittances. Its current terms say users should only use the Send Money service for personal reasons, and Xoom specifically states that it cannot be used for commercial purposes. This means it is suitable for situations such as sending money to yourself, friends, or family, but it should not be treated as the proper route for receiving freelance fees, business payments, or payment for goods and services.

If the payment is commercial, use one of the other methods discussed below instead.

2. Open a Foreign PayPal Account Legally

Since we are looking at ways to receive PayPal payments from a restricted region, opening a foreign PayPal account is another option. Although this slightly defeats the main topic of receiving PayPal payments without having your own account, it is still worth considering.

The account we are talking about here is not one created with a fake identity, address, or other false information. There is a legal way to set up a foreign PayPal Business account even when you live in an unsupported region such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc.

One common way to do this is by registering a company abroad.

For instance, if you choose the United States, you can register an LLC. After setting up the company, you can obtain the business and tax details needed to create and operate a U.S. PayPal Business account, including an ITIN where required. You can also open a real U.S. bank account that connects properly with PayPal.

This setup can also give you access to more than PayPal. Depending on where your company is registered and the requirements of each platform, you may also be able to use services such as Wise, Revolut, and other financial platforms that are restricted in your home country.

The important thing is that you are creating the account through a legitimate foreign business setup, rather than using fake details just to make PayPal think you live in another country.

3. Use a PayPal Payment Service Like SVZ Finance

If the two methods explained above do not work for you right now, then this option is worth considering. It can be the fastest way to receive PayPal payments without having your own PayPal account.

You may have already thought about using a service like this. This is what platforms like SVZ Finance do.

SVZ Finance can receive legitimate payments on your behalf from your workplace, affiliate marketing platform, clients, or even family and friends. Once the payment is received, you are paid in local currency or through another available settlement option, depending on the route you choose.

The process is straightforward. SVZ Finance receives the payment on your behalf and then sends the money to you through the agreed method.

4. Bonus: Consider Alternatives to PayPal

While the main topic screams receiving PayPal payments without your own PayPal account, this addition is still important.

Sometimes, we should not keep forcing one option to work when there is another platform that can take its place. That is what we are looking at in this section.

There are payment platforms that have expanded across different parts of the world and allow people to receive international payments even in countries where PayPal receiving is restricted.

And the alternatives here are not just fancy PayPal alternatives added to make the list longer. They can actually solve the receiving problem.

Most of them give you foreign bank account details such as USD, EUR, and GBP accounts. You can give these details to your employer, clients, freelance platforms, affiliate networks, or anyone else trying to pay you.

So, if the person trying to pay you can use another method, here are the options to consider.

WorldFirst

WorldFirst is a good option for freelancers and businesses that receive payments internationally.

You can get receiving bank accounts in currencies such as USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, and many others. This allows clients and supported platforms to pay you through bank transfer instead of PayPal.

You also don’t necessarily need to have a registered company before opening an account. WorldFirst allows freelancers and unregistered sole traders to sign up, although you may need to provide information that shows the type of work or business you do.

WorldFirst supports users across more than 100 countries, including countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Vietnam.

If you are a freelancer or run a business and want access to several foreign currency bank accounts in one place, WorldFirst is a good place to start.

nSave

nSave is another option for people who need foreign bank accounts in countries with limited payment options.

You can get USD, EUR, and GBP accounts. For USD payments, for example, you get ACH bank details that can be used to receive transfers.

This makes nSave useful for freelancers, remote workers, and other people receiving money internationally.

It also supports countries that usually struggle with PayPal and similar platforms, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Egypt.

You can receive payments from employers and clients, and it can also be used with supported freelance and remote work platforms.

If you mainly need USD, EUR, or GBP receiving accounts and don’t want to register a foreign company first, nSave is worth considering.

Payoneer

Payoneer is another option that is widely used by freelancers, online sellers, affiliate marketers, and businesses receiving money internationally.

It provides receiving bank accounts in currencies such as USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, and several others.

You can give these account details to clients or use Payoneer with supported freelance platforms and marketplaces.

Payoneer also has wide country coverage, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Vietnam.

If you receive money from freelance platforms, marketplaces, affiliate networks, or international clients, Payoneer is worth checking.

Elevate Pay

Elevate Pay is mainly for people who need a USD bank account to receive international payments.

It gives eligible users U.S. bank account details, including an account number and routing number. Your employer or client can send USD directly to the account, and you can also use it with supported freelance and remote work platforms.

It is mainly suited for freelancers and remote workers, especially those receiving payments from U.S. companies or platforms.

Elevate Pay also supports users in countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Egypt.

It is another available option to know about if the service supports your country.

Which One Should You Choose?

You don’t need to register on all the platforms above. If you are in a PayPal restricted country, I would narrow the choice down to WorldFirst, nSave, and Wise.

WorldFirst would be my first option to check. It supports many countries and gives you access to several receiving currencies, which makes it suitable for freelancers, online workers, and businesses receiving money internationally.

nSave would be the next option. It is especially useful for people in countries where access to international banking services is limited. You can get USD, EUR, and GBP receiving accounts without first setting up a foreign company.

Then there is Wise. If Wise provides full receiving features in your country, it is also a good option. The limitation is that some PayPal restricted countries do not have access to all of its receiving account features.

So start with WorldFirst. If it does not suit you, check nSave, then Wise. Between these three, you should be able to find an option that works for your country.

Do You Know You Can Pay With PayPal Without a PayPal Account? 🤔

Yes, this is also possible.

PayPal has a feature called Guest Checkout that allows you to pay through PayPal with your debit or credit card without creating or logging into a PayPal account.

You may have seen this before when trying to pay on a website. After clicking the PayPal payment option, instead of asking you only to log in, PayPal may also show an option to pay with a debit or credit card.

You enter your card details, complete the payment, and PayPal processes it for the merchant. You don’t need to have money in a PayPal balance or even own a PayPal account.

However, the option does not appear every time.

The merchant needs to support Guest Checkout, and PayPal may also decide whether to show it based on things such as your location and its own payment checks.

So if you want to pay someone through PayPal but don’t have an account, check whether the payment page gives you the option to pay with a debit or credit card.

If it appears, you can complete the PayPal payment without opening an account.

Conclusion

Not having access to full PayPal receiving features in your country can be frustrating, especially when clients, employers, or other people trying to pay you prefer PayPal.

But as we have seen, the restriction does not mean there is no way forward.

If the payment is personal, Xoom can be one of the easiest options when it supports your country. If you want your own PayPal account, you can also look at setting up a foreign PayPal Business account legally through a proper business structure.

And if you don’t want to go through any of that, a payment service like SVZ Finance can receive the PayPal payment on your behalf and send the money to you through an available settlement method.

If PayPal itself is becoming too difficult to work around, then use another payment platform. WorldFirst, nSave, and Wise can give you another route to receive money internationally. This works best when the sender is willing to pay through bank transfer instead.

So the main thing is to use the option that matches your situation. You don’t need to force PayPal to work in a country where its receiving features are limited.

There are other ways to receive your money, and in many cases, you can do that without having your own PayPal account at all.
